Diverting blood to the muscles   Written by Tracy W (5/24/2007 6:48 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Aw, you beat me to it! ;-), penned by Line
Are you new?

When someone goes white with anger, what is happening is that their body is diverting blood to the muscles in readiness for action. With fear, the same process happens but the body is readying for flight (and of course a person may hit back out of fear if flight is not possible).

I worked one summer as a nurse's aid at a residence for people with severe behavioural problems caused by brain injuries, and saw this happen a few times.

Clearly Darcy has learnt to suppress action when he's angry in a social situation, but he does give the impression that if someone ever threatened his life or Georgiana's that'd be the last thing they ever did.
