because as Lizzy I think observes, there is no money to socialise while she stays at the Parsonage. They only get invited to places as an afterthought. The power must be formed for Charlotte and Mr Collins, and she will be the one to do it, in her role as new wife.

Observing Charlotte's values, which could stem from her father's influence, shows she has these thoughts in mind. She is prepared to be in awe of her wealthier, influential "betters", so make a solid foundation for her marriage.

In this way, she has a different modus operandi to Lizzy, who is more like her own father in values (not character, I might add!).
