Are you new?

I thought that a clergyman was acceptable everywhere socially. Not sure where I read that, but logicaly a clergyman is called on to tend to people's souls, and the rich gentry would have souls like everyone else.

Maybe the difficulty was that now Mr Collins was married the Collinses would be expected to reciprocate invitations and Charlotte considered that they couldn't afford to, as the style of living was so expensive.
