Mrs B is certainly so caught up in her feelings at any particular moment that she fails to notice how it affects others. Also, I think she has no understanding that other people may view things differently to herself. So, she is irritated by Mr Bingley's behaviour towards Jane, and assumes Jane is feeling exactly the same way.

Mr B could, actually, understand how Jane is feeling and is trying to raise her spirits by joking about it. That is how I've always read it in the past. But with my new anti-rose tinted glasses on with regards to him, I'm not at all sure. Even if it is well-meant, it isn't very well timed.
