Are you new?

...it makes it more understandable, to some of us, anyway, why a woman, especially a woman like Charlotte who never was romantic in the first place, would choose a marriage that really has no chance of being happy in the way we understand a happy marriage today.

I suspect that if Charlotte were tempted in the future to be unhappy with her situation as Mr. Collins' wife, she would think about the alternative, and she would feel a whole lot better about her lot in life.
