I was stating only what is said in the novel.   Written by Graciela (5/17/2007 6:36 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, They would be doomed from the start, I think…, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

I have read in PP board opinions about how bad would be Mary and Collins marriage and I would agree with them. However, if JA only had written about successful marriages then Mr. and Mrs. Bennet would never had married, right? (not to mention other marriages in her novels). I wondered also why nothing is said of Mary's opinion. Was she disappointed that Mr. Collins didn't ask her? Maybe she thought something like "the grapes are green".

(Another issue would be what would have been the development of the story if Mr. Collins had married Mary, but this question involves chapters that we haven't read yet.)
