I have been wanting to post on this topic but unfortunately haven't had the time to do much more than read the weekly chapters and read as many of the posts as possible. I would like to assure you that you are not the only one of this opinion, I think Charlotte made the best decision considering her situation. (I think a few other people have agreed with you but I can't remember, after reading most of this thread yesterday!) And I totally agree with her assessment of the eventual vexations of marriage. No one is perfect, and dwelling on the defects of your spouse will not encourage happiness. And anyone who expects to be in a state of bliss for the rest of their lives is not very realistic, and she is a very pragmatic and realistic character. She is one of my favorites, and I think if she were a real person we would be great friends. :-)
