and am glad to see you posted this, making the connection. Perhaps "indifferent" does mean a depressive sort of melancholy thing state? If she didn't want to go to Court and be presented, it may mean she has no desire for gaiety or society?

Also, would her need for a footstool (see Mr Collins proposal)in the evenings indicate that she had some kind of fatigue, or something? Anyone else have any ideas?
