An illiterate father Written by Line (5/16/2007 9:44 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Dads, penned by nan duval

I think JA meant "illiterate" in the sense of having no interest or familiarity with literature or other intellectual/cultural subjects, not someone who couldn't read or write at all. In that sense, I'm afraid our Mr. Collins probably *is* fairly illiterate, and will influence his children to be the same. :-(
