In reaction to Mr Bennet's preference?   Written by Tracy W (5/13/2007 6:39 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Chapter 18, penned by Felicia
Are you new?

"I desire you will do no such thing. Lizzy is not a bit better than the others; and I am sure she is not half so handsome as Jane, nor half so good-humoured as Lydia. But you are always giving her the preference." (chpt 1)

It may be in reaction to Mr Bennet's preference of Elizabeth. Mr and Mrs Bennet seem to not be on very happy terms in their marriage. Perhaps Mrs Bennet resents her husband's preference of their second daughter.
