One hint   Written by Kathi (5/13/2007 8:51 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, But do we know that there is anything wrong..., penned by Line
Are you new?

When I was first exposed to the story of P&P, it struck me that Wickham should not be telling this story to a stranger at a party if he really wants to protect Darcy's reputation out of respect for old Mr. Darcy.

So far, I think internal contradiction is the one thing that might tell us (and perhaps should have told Lizzy) that Mr. Wickham might not be what he seems.

Of course, maybe he just got carried away by the opportunity to pour his story into a sympathetic ear.
