more a method of keeping warm on the way home from a ball on a November's morning( before the sun was up) in a cold carriage or a way to sustain oneself through hours of dancing :-)

I'd certainly take the opportunity to drink some hot soup before wrapping myself up and driving home in an 18th century carraige in these circustmances..
