Focus on Objects and Movements in chapters 12 & 13   Written by Margaret S (5/10/2007 9:00 p.m.)
Are you new?

Chapter 12

The scene where Darcy and Elizabeth are alone together is interesting in a sense that there is a palpable lack of movement.

Caroline shakes hands with Elizabeth on parting. Apparently, handshaking was a sign of friendship. Caroline must have been really happy to see Elizabeth go!

The giddiness of Lydia and Kitty and their news (several of the officers had dined lately with their uncle, a private had been flogged, and it had actually been hinted that Colonel Forster was going to be married) is quite amusing.

Chapter 13

Collins is ready to offer an olive branch.

Kitty and Lydia have associated exclusively with scarlet coats.

Collins is impressed with rooms and furniture (that he is to inherit).
