Self-confidence vs. vanity   Written by Kathi (5/9/2007 9:24 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, My use of word obvious, penned by Outi
Are you new?

I guess I see Lizzy's reaction a little differently. After what Darcy said, denigrating both Lizzy's looks and her consequence, it seems like a woman would have to be more than just self-confident, she would have to be vain, to believe that that man had become attracted to her.

If Lizzy is vain, I don't think it is about the sort of things that attract men, or at least not the sort of things to attract a man like she imagines Darcy to be.
