Yes, you're quite right - I suppose I was responding more to some of the posts below - I should have placed my post further down. My apologies!

But now I wonder (given the assumption that his remark was not meant to be a serious invitation) what Darcy would have said if Lizzy had taken him at face value and said, "yes, I would love to dance a reel with you right now." I wonder if he would have made some sort of excuse to get out of it, or gone thru with the reel.
