...came up with this probable answer: A relative common to both Mr. Bennet's side and the Collins' family could have relayed this information. Even though Mr. Bennet and the father of Mr. Collins might have had a rift, other members common to both of their families could have easily continued to have good relationships with both sides and after visiting with the Bennet's could have then reported their opinion of the Bennet girls to the Collins side when they visited them.
