Where could Mr. C have heard of the Bennet...   Written by Adrian (5/9/2007 12:14 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mr. Collins Motive: Coming to Longbourn (chapters 13, 14, 15), penned by Robbin

...daughters' beauty or amiability? Not like from Darcy at Rosings. Not likely from his father, since his quarrel with Mr. Bennet appears to be of long standing. No Bennet sons or cousins that we know of exist to attend university with Mr. C. Of whom could he have inquired in Meryton or Longbourn, since he appears to have a very limited acquaintance anywhere? It seems hardly likely that anyone among his Hunsford parish would have known them.

Quite a puzzle to me.
