Before hearing Wickham's story, Lizzy thinks Darcy is arrogant and disagreeable -- an opinion that is not unreasonable, given the contact she has had with him (though as Line says, we do not yet know if it is accurate). However, when she doesn't seem think he is dishonorable. When hearing Wickham's story, however, she is shocked -- she had not believed him dishonorable, and now, upon believing Wickham, she does. That is a qualitative difference. This may be what Line was getting at (though she can correct me if I'm wrong). |
