I thought of verses to Jane, too. Written by Mandy N (5/8/2007 5:54 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I connected the incident..., penned by Moni

As that is how it entered their converse.
I'm not saying Lizzy didn't pick up any allusion to Shakespeare. Yet I thought JA intended to give Lizzy witty repartee on an old idea of poetry and love.

Some idea of Lizzy's reading habits can be formed from her remark on the picturesque. She reads and understands Gilpin.
