Are you new?

I assumed that the reason the people around them looked amazed to see Darcy and Elizabeth dancing together at Netherfield was because Elizabeth's funny story about being slighted by Darcy had made the rounds of the local grapevine (as these things do in a small town) and everyone had heard that Darcy didn't think her good enough to dance with!
