So long as all the evidence on Darcy's side...   Written by Adrian (5/7/2007 1:11 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, In response to Kathi (Jane's "evidence"), penned by Diane Frances
Are you new?

...has originated with Darcy (whether it reaches Lizzy through Jane, Bingley, or Caroline--or had it reached her through Charlotte), Lizzy quite properly suspects it.

Ironically, all her evidence on Wickham's side originates from Wickham, and Lizzy does not see the parallel. As Kathi quotes, "There was truth in his looks." (Ch. 17)

Already we can see Lizzy's mistrust of Darcy and her reaction to Wickham's amiability affecting her dispassionate observation. At least here she should evaluate the situation as a "he said, he said" situation.
