Ch 11 question about the turn about the room

I do not understand the following sentence: "Mr. Darcy looked up. He was as much awake to the novelty of attention in that quarter as Elizabeth herself could be, and unconsciously closed his book."
Whose attention to whom? He is very much used to Carolines attention, Lizzy doesn`t agree to walk about to get his attention ( I think),...? Maybe Carolines attention to Lizzy?
