We do know that Jane sticks up for Darcy - Chapter 17:

"Can his most intimate friends be so excessively deceived in him? -- oh! no."

Here she is appealing to logic - if Darcy was so evil could his friends really not know it - a good point I think.

So there is at least one voice in Darcy's favor. Basically I think that Lizzy does not like Darcy and is ready to think the worst of him. Furthermore she does not like Caroline and is not inclined to listen to her.

She DOES like Wickham and wants to see the best in him.

Here perhaps we start to see the second 'P' in the title?
