Elizabeth prefers reading to cards   Written by Maisy (5/5/2007 7:41 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I think I would put it this way:..., penned by Maria Liourdi
Are you new?

]she prefers reading over cards

Does Elizabeth really prefer reading to cards? :-)

On entering the drawing-room she found the whole party at loo, and was immediately invited to join them; but suspecting them to be playing high, she declined it, and making her sister the excuse, said she would amuse herself for the short time she could stay below, with a book (ch. 8).
Elizabeth declined joining the card game because she suspected they were playig for high stakes.

I like what you posted about how Elizabeth moved to the card table because she enjoys studying characters. I also think that her own sense of fun might have enjoyed Mr. Bingley's teasing of his sister. :-)
