Other activities during this time?   Written by Louise H (5/5/2007 6:06 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ch.8: Dressing for dinner, penned by Line
Are you new?

I'm wondering if "dressing for dinner" was a sort of euphemism for "private time." It might give people who have been in each others' company all day an excuse to be alone. It could also be a time for a brief nap.

Pure speculation on my part. I'd be interested to hear if anyone actually knows if the time alloted for dressing for dinner was meant to be just long enough for that purpose.
