is what I have imagined. Keeping Jane company is not really their first priority.
So since dinner means joining the gentlemen, I'm sure Miss Bingley at least was eager to present herself to great advantage. Perhaps it is also a way to stress their being noveau-riche? Would they have changed into evening attire for dinner in old Mr Bingley's household?
