Compliment?   Written by Denise H (5/4/2007 7:32 p.m.)
Are you new?

In Ch. 8, when Darcy says "and to all this she must yet add something more substantial, in the improvement of her mind by extensive reading", is he paying Lizzy a compliment? Lizzy has just been disparaged by Caroline for reading instead of card-playing. Lizzy seems to take Darcy's comment as an insult. Sorry if you've already discussed this somewhere and I missed it.
