Don't you think, though, that Darcy would be used to being the object of marriage-minded young ladies (and their mothers) long before he got to Meryton? The fact that this particular group is *also* interested in him as a potential husband for one of their daughters should come as no surprise, and would be no excuse for a *more* negative reaction to them than he had previously shown elsewhere.
