He is sarcastic,if I could say so. I've read somewhere that his behaviour seems too detached from his own family and this is JA's warning to herself not to become like this...not to forget she has to do with human beings, even if she may have a deep insight and knowledge of their nature...I thought this is a good idea. MrBennet comments on everything as if he is above everyone...Though he tells the truth, he could try more to understand others and talk them in a way they could understand...instead of joking and understand himself alone most of his jokes.
However I can laugh still in the way he says his comments...
