Are you new?

During the discussion re libraries, Darcy says "I cannot comprehend the neglect of a family library in such days as these." I wondered if he was referring to the war with France. JA has been criticized (unfairly, I think) for not focusing on the big events during her time. So, do you think Darcy is being specific here or is it just a general comment?

"I am talking of possibilities, Charles." I don't find Caroline Bingley funny but this always gives me laugh.
