I read it as... Written by Marilynn (5/3/2007 3:54 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ch.7: Whose footman?, penned by Line

the footman at Longbourn. The responsibility of a footman was for answering the door and also waited at table. He probably would be expected to wait in the dining room for an answer to give back to the messenger from Netherfield who was presumably waiting at the door.
