P&P "fairly gallops" across the page!   Written by Cathy Allen (5/3/2007 12:35 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, JA's ability to tell so much in a short space, penned by Rebecca K
Are you new?

If I remember correctly, that's what Andrew Davies said in "The Making of P&P", which is why he started his adaptation with Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy galloping across Netherfield. Miss Austen wrote with such economy of words, and yet each word was highly significant. That's why I am continuingly amazed at people even ATTEMPTING to adapt her books to other media. Brave indeed to leave out even a syllable. It's also why, in my opinion, some adaptations don't work!
