JA I think neatly lays out the theme of the book in her first line: It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

How would a secondary character having TB fit into this theme? It's not like she's likely to leave anyone a large sum of money if she dies, thus changing their marriage prospects. Nor would Kitty having TB say anything revealing about her character.
