Not supercilious :-)   Written by JulieW (5/1/2007 9:03 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, actions and motives, penned by Becky K
Are you new?

This is one thing in Sir William's favour, IMHO

The fact that he was, after his "elevation" unfailingly pleasant to all( though in a flowery , "over the top" way) is to his credit.

He'd a glipmse of a gracious and grand way of life at court and had adopted it as his way of living from then on. He had ideas above his station,if you like.

But none of this rendered him offensive and unpleasant. Or supercilious;-)

He simply wanted to be courteous to all the world, for he had, unlike the great majority of people in his small town, seen how it was done ;-)
