...to be *shown* to be wrong! ;-) I think that's what really makes him squirm. If Mr. Always-Right had thought poorly of Elizabeth but kept his thoughts to himself, he might be sorry for his initial attitude, but he wouldn't be anywhere near so mortified, IMO.
