That phrase struck me this time, too. Written by Kathi (4/30/2007 10:37 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Definitely, but, penned by Jen S

I thought perhaps Caroline "not so entirely satisfied" because she interpreted Darcy response as referring to her behavior in general, though not necessarily her behavior that night.

But you might be right, and no, I don't think you're reading too much into it.

I think it does suggest that Caroline might fear that the conversation could go in directions she wouldn't like, so she drops the subject.
