The insult at the Meryton Assembly was probably due in part to his being annoyed by the circumstances, Bingley, and being disgusted with most of the Bennet family. However, as we all know, this "feeling" (if you can even call it a geniune feeling and not just a little begrudgedness) didn't last long. ;-)
