Introductory visit   Written by Mandy N (4/30/2007 3:13 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, But Mr Bennet did meet Mr Bingley...., penned by Eaffie
Are you new?

I think Mr Bennet enjoys teasing his wife about not calling on Bingley.
Yet it is Mr Bennet's duty as a principal resident to call upon his new neighbor.
I don't know if Mrs Bennet is being over-zealous. Until an introductory visit was paid, no deeper connection between the families-from dinner parties to marriage proposals- can result.

In trying to get a daughter married, Mrs Bennet maybe more typical of Georgian mothers than we realize.
