I find it quite odd that Mr. Bennet is not at all interested in future marriages of his daughters. In fact he is making fun of the subject although it is most important for women. How are they to support themselves if they would not get married? Mr. Bennet certainly hasn't done much to secure their future. It seems that he is quite selfabsorbed and doesn't care much for anybody (or only for his one amusement).
