Wow, I had never thought of them all as villages!   Written by Mary Ellen (4/29/2007 10:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Actually, you answered my question...., penned by Eaffie
Are you new?

Longbourne is definitely mentioned as being the name of the Bennet's house and also the village in which they reside. Presumably there is at least a church and a couple of other houses. Perhaps what makes it a village is that some of the buildings are owned by someone besides the Bennet family.

Pemberley is never mentioned in the novel as being a village. I think it would be fair to assume that there are other homes, besides the main house on the property. But these might all be owned by the Darcy family. The same for Netherfield.

Perhaps there are villages there, but JA never chose to mention them.
