...Mr. Bingley hoped that Mr. Bennet would be kind enough to introduce him to his daughters, but I do think that even if Bingley had known in advance that he would not be so fortunate, he would still have returned the call anyway. He is so polite, that the existance of 5 pretty girls would just have been an added motive, not the principle one, IMVHO.

On the other hand, I consider it quite cruel of Mr. Bennet to once again thwart the desires of both his guest and his daughters. I suppose he found it amusing to see Lydia and Kitty craning their necks at the window, pressing their noses and foreheads to the glass in order to see better. :-|
