So, was "library" interchangeable with "bookstore" in those days? Did people think that "library" sounded more high-class than "book shop", or was it a rather inaccurate synonym, the way we talk about going to the "video store" nowadays when what we mean is that we want to *rent* a *DVD*? ;-)
