Looking at Motive   Written by Robbin (4/29/2007 12:08 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, P&P Focus Topics?, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

I have struggled to come up with a focus for this group read because there are so many interesting subjects to choose from and finally decided to look at motive. I find it very interesting to look at the motives of characters in particular situations; some situations pop out as too much to resist a closer look but I intend to focus mainly on Mr. Bennet and Mr. Collins. I am particularly interested in Mr. Collins motive in coming to Longbourn to choose among Mr. Bennet’s daughters for his wife. I also want to look at Mr. Bennet’s motives; specifically, I want to see how much of his actions are geared for his amusement or pleasure and how much is for the benefit of his family. Silvia O, I do not think we will overlap as I understand your focus is on looking to see if Mr. Bennet is like JA while I intend to stick to trying to figure out why he is doing something. I think this is going to be an interesting group read—I look forward to reading about everyone’s focus. ;D
