Are you new?

I find that JA was very economical in her writing: she only described people who needed describing to further the plot. Others she simply mentioned in passing, assuming that her readers would understand that her main characters had a much wider acquaintance and social life beyond their relationships with each other. Since you know I like making lists(!), I've often thought I'd like to make a list of all the people mentioned in passing in P&P. I'll do it for this GR, if I can find the time!

P.S: I like the idea of counting Darcy's smiles! It was a fellow Pemberlean who pointed out to me that in the novel, Darcy is described as smiling considerably more often than Colin Firth does in P&P2...
