It's quite sad to admit that they hastened to approve him for the sake of his "gorgeous" (indeed) looking and his posture. I mean, whether we admit it or not, appearance was and is important. But his high rank, IMHO(correct??),only at first was an attractive advantage. Such a person must be very agreable and kindhearted,as MrBingley, or else he is easily accused of looking down to others, being too proud etc. People are insulted if concidered lower, don't they?
(it is my first reading of the novel in English.i never trusted much the "ancient" greek translation from my town's library some 5 years ago.i hope to get everything right and learn from you.)
