One of the things I love about re-reading Austen's works is the "new" bits that pop out with each read, providing new insight to a character or situation, or sometimes just making me chuckle. The first case of this during my current re-read was a line in Chapter 2, when the Bennet women are discussing Mr. Bingley's arrival and Mr. Bennet is teasing them about it. He asks Mary for her opinion, and the narrator states,
"Mary wished to say something very sensible, but knew not how."
So Mr. Bennet is not the only one with the rather biting, yet illustrative, wit. :-)
