Difference in tone--Kitty and Lydia   Written by Diana (1/19/2004 3:51 p.m.)
Are you new?

I was interested to notice the differences in the portrayal of Kitty and Lydia between the book and P&P2. In the novel, we know that they are silly girls who like to gossip and flirt and don't really think about much beyond clothes and men, but so far in the novel we haven't seen them do any of the vulgar things that their characters in P&P2 do. In P&P2, the idea that they would take a soldier's sword and run around Netherfield with it, or go to visit Capt. Denny before he is up to shock him seems more vulgar than silly. Any thoughts?
