A Good Question   Written by BarbaraB (1/19/2004 12:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Miss Bingley, penned by Johanna Elisabet
Are you new?

]The reason I asked about Carolines interference with Lizzy is because of what we were told in chapter 10:

"Miss Bingley saw, or suspected enough to be jealous ... her desire of getting rid of Elizabeth."

Yes, Caroline was getting jealous but IMHO, the words "suspected enough", qualifies the statement to mean that she did not suspect the extent of Darcy's attraction. It was enough that he admired Lizzie and payed attention to her to make Caroline jealous. This was interferring with her own campaign to win Darcy for herself, taking the focus away from herself. Darcy, at this point, is even taking himself to task for just finding her attractive let alone considering her as anything more than an attractive woman.
