in consequence of the missive, Chapter 18, penned by Johanna Elisabet
I've had a fun time noticing a few things for the first time during this reading / viewing, too. I've discovered, for example, that I have always misheard a line while Darcy and Lizzy are dancing. I always thought that Lizzy said, "We are each of an unsocial, taciturn disposition. I'm willing to speak, unless we are expected to say something that will amaze the whole room." But JA's real line is: We are each of an unsocial, taciturn disposition, unwilling to speak, unless we expect to say something that will amaze the whole room... Even though I think my mistaken hearing heard a line that makes more sense to me, the closed captioning shows that the script agrees with JA. I also noticed a couple of other things during the dance. Darcy and Lizzy's dance must have been the time that Mr. Collins was spending his "dance with Mary." Only instead of dancing, they were standing along the side talking. LOL! At the end of the dance, Darcy and Lizzy go off to the side very near to Mrs. Bennet. I've been having fun trying to guess her thoughts from her expressions. Anyone have any ideas? |
