Are you new?

Why does Mr. Bennet keep the knowledge of Mr. Collins' visit till the very day of his arrival, from his family?

Was he just trying to be dramatic? Did he not worry about other things like-getting a proper dinner for his visitor? Perhaps he had faith in his wife's dinners...:)

At least they should have been time to getting spare-rooms ready for the visitor. Or were spare-rooms generally ready at all times?
